The National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) seeks applicants for state stipends in two areas: Deeper Learning and School Leadership. These stipends expand NASBE’s mission to strengthen the capacity of state boards of education to ensure all students graduate high school with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to succeed in college, career, and civic life. A part of this involves a focus on the development and implementation of policies that support effective principals.
The Deeper Learning stipend project, Delivering on College, Career, and Civic Success supports states in their policymaking around assessments and accountability, standards development and support, and policy coherence, among others. Stipends ranging from $6,000 to $9,000 per year for two years will be awarded to 4 to 6 states as merited by application approval.
The School Leadership stipend project, Integrating Effective Principal Policy Development into State Strategic Plans will help states create policies that support school leaders in navigating both the new demands and opportunities of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), as well as the needs of their students to graduate high school, college, career, and civic ready. Two to 3 states will be awarded a one-year $7,500 as merited by application approval.
Proposals are due to NASBE no later than, Wednesday, February 3, 2016. States seeking a deeper learning stipend should submit their application to Ace Parsi at ace.parsi@nasbe.org. States applying for a school leadership stipend should send their application to Francis Eberle at francis.eberle@nasbe.org.
A bidder’s webinar will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 3:00 pm (EDT) for those interested in learning about either stipend project. Register for this webinar.
While NASBE members enjoy a competitive advantage, all state boards are encouraged to apply.
