Delaware’s Gregory B. Coverdale Elected to NASBE Board of Directors

Alexandria, VA — Gregory B. Coverdale, Jr., a member of the Delaware State Board of Education, has been appointed to NASBE’s board of directors.

Coverdale, who joined the Delaware State Board of Education in 2010, will fill the vacancy made by Delaware state board colleague Randall “R.L.” Hughes, whose term as senior northeast area director on the NASBE board expires later this spring. Hughes has opted for an early departure.

A certified financial planner and co-founder of Civitas Partners, Coverdale also serves on NASBE’s finance committee. He has been a trustee on several nonprofit boards including the Delaware Nature Society, the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts, and the Brandywine YMCA.

“I’m thrilled that Greg has agreed to serve out the remainder of his departing colleague’s term,” says NASBE President Mary Lord. “Delaware is such an innovator in education and a leader in policy implementation, so having a Delaware member on NASBE’s board of directors enriches our entire organization. Greg is an all-round player who brings key strengths to our team, most notably his deep knowledge of finance and commitment to community service. NASBE couldn’t be more fortunate to have him step up to the plate.”
