Arlington, VA – The National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) is pleased to announce Renée Rybak Lang has joined the organization as communications director. Before coming to NASBE, Lang was communications manager of Education Sector, an independent education think tank that recently merged with the American Institutes for Research.
Lang has worked in education policy for more than 10 years, and brings a wealth of strategic communications, online, and social media expertise to NASBE. At Education Sector, Lang led dozens of successful communications campaigns targeting policymakers, the media, and other key audiences, and established the think tank’s award-winning web and social media presence. Prior to this, Lang oversaw the Progressive Policy Institute’s policy work on charter schools and education events, and served as an aide in the New York State Senate. She is a graduate of Binghamton University.
“At a time when communication is central to the work of state boards of education, we are delighted that Renee has joined our team,” says NASBE Executive Director Kristen Amundson. “Her expertise will help NASBE and our members let the public know about the important work they do.”
