NASBE Executive Director: Chairman Wheeler’s E-Rate Proposal a Critical Investment in Education Broadband

Washington, DC—The National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) issued the following statement on the E-rate proposal outlined today by Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler:

“Achieving educational equity and excellence now and in the future depends in part on the nation’s ability to promote digital equity, and the Chairman’s proposal takes an incredibly important step in the right direction for students,” said Executive Director Kristen Amundson. “NASBE urges the full Commission to approve this critically needed investment in our schools’ broadband capacity.”

Amundson’s full statement is posted here.

NASBE addressed issues of education technology in a study group report, The Role of Technology in Schools and Communities.
