Arlington, VA—NASBE today announces a request for proposals for state stipends in four topic areas, plus the opportunity for a combined proposal that joins two or three of those topics:

  1. Common Core State Standards
  2. Next Generation Science Standards
  3. Deeper Learning
  4. School Leadership
  5. Connections (a combination of two or three of the above)

Proposals on how the stipends will be used to further state boards’ work in these areas are due to NASBE by COB, Wednesday, February 4, 2015, and are to be sent to stipends@nasbe.org. A state board may be able to connect two or three of these topics together for greater impact. RFP no. 5, “Connections”, allows for that.

A state board may elect to do either of the following:

  1. Apply for one, two, three, or four of RFPs 1–4 as individual stipends.
  2. Apply for a combination of two or three of RFPs 1–4 by filling out the individual RFPs andRFP #5.

Applications for a Connections stipend will give the state a competitive advantage over those states that apply for individual stipends. There will be up to three Connections awards granted. Applicants for a Connections stipend should conceptualize how the work around the multiple topics will fit together before filling out the individual stipend RFPs. Applying for a Connections stipend will not prohibit consideration of individual proposals by themselves.
